EDM Concerts, Raves, Festivals and Jedi Wants Your Help

Hi, I’m Jedi And I Need Your Help, Please?

Now seeking fun people to work with

Sometimes we need a little help from our friends.

EDM concerts, music festivals, raves and Jedi. What’s going on Here?

My name is Chris or Jedi as most people know me. I’ve been active in the rave/EDM/festival scene since 1999. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been active in the scene for 16ish years already.

“What is this?” you might find yourself asking? “This,” I’d reply with a voice that had problems contain it excited tone, “This, is having FUN!”

Living the Club Life

All joking aside, I ‘m all about the EDM concert, rave, music festival scene. When I first began to listen to techno/electronica, events happened in the dark back rooms of a club. Actually, half the time it wasn’t even a club. The first venue I was a regular at was in the back of an auto mechanics shop.

Imagine my excitement when one of the mainstream venues actually decided to have an EDM night. I almost PLURred my pants when I saw that flyer.

I couldn’t contain my excitement. Now I wouldn’t have to stand on the corner of the VIP booths to spin my glow sticks. I was still learning how to spin them back then. I needed somewhere to practice so I wouldn’t hit anyone on accident.

The way the club was set up left the top of the VIP booths as the perfect place to stand and dance for hours. There, I wouldn’t have to worry about people getting in my way.

A couple of people asked me how I got away with that since security was always such dicks there.

Because I was nice to the bouncers at the venue, (Bribing them with snacks and drinks, etc. Making nice with the venue staff is always an excellent thing to do. They’re at work watching people get fucked up; it gets old, fast and is boring too. Be entertaining and friendly and they’ll be on your side when you need them to be.) They let me twirl without any interference.

I mentioned how I almost PLURred myself before. I don’t want to mention what happened when I actually landed my first gig as a go-go dancer.

(The lawyers said that since the case is still pending not to say anything. =))

As a guy, you’ve got to be a bad-ass to get a go-go dancing gig in a straight club.

What’s Was Your First Festival?

I don’t remember my first outdoor event. It might have been Airport 1 in Austin, TX. Maybe it was a different event thrown by Ark Entertainment around the year 2000. I do remember that by then I had already earned my rave name/nickname by my first festival. “Jedi”

It fits me, or I fit it. I’m the resourceful person that is there to help you out. I’m there to give a light show. I’m there to offer a ride to the event. I’m there to help flyer and promote to get people to the events. I’m there to help people have a good time and forget their worries for the night. I’m there with the help you need when you need help.

PLUR For Life

PLUR is peace, love, unity, and respect. It’s one of the standards that I’ve incorporated into my life as much as possible. I think I’ve done a pretty decent job of it.

This website started to teach others more about raves, EDM concerts, and music festivals. So many people who go to festivals don’t know what they are doing or what to expect.

Try searching on Google and you’ll get some lame generic answer. For even more laughs frustration, try searching for “What do Guys wear to a festival?”

For those that haven’t ever been to a festival, there’s a bunch of things that you learn over time.  The festival old-timers have learned many of these already:

    • How to Lose Your Friends in a Festival in 1 Easy Step.
      • Someone who is a festival virgin leaves their group behind in a lax moment. They then have to spend the remaining time trying to find the group.
    • Why You Should Learn To Pace Yourself at a Music Festival.
      • A festival newbie can have difficulty with a simple thing like partying too hard the first day. It’s like they’re a kid in the candy store and have to see and do everything.
    • Ever Played Cops and Festival Ragers?
      • Teaching the noob in case they have to control and baby-sit that one friend. You know the one who likes to talk back to authorities and always gets arrested.

These are just a few of the things that I want to cover with this blog. I want to teach people the things that I have picked up over the years of being in the scene. Like:

  • How to work by day, and rage by night.
  • How to go to a festival that has overnight camping.
  • What to guys and girls wear to a festival?
  • EDM outfits, rave wear, festival clothing for men.
  • Festival reviews, after movies, trailers, fan films, and DJ sets.
  • What hashtags are the official hashtags for the festivals?

Those are just a small part of the content I’d like FestGuru.com to contain. I’m off to a start, and I’ll get there. Please have patience with both myself and the site till then.

If you see something I’ve screwed up in some way. Or maybe I’ve offended with poor grammar and run-on sentences. Whatever it is, I need feedback from you about what I’ve done. I need your help. Use the contact form at  to send me a message. Don’t be afraid to tell me what you think, it’s anonymous.

Or if you have any type of festival tips and tricks that you’ve learned and want to share, send me a comment.  Have you ever wished that you knew the answer to something about music festivals?  You guessed it, send me a question.

Also stay tuned for more great updates and articles.

Wrapping Up

In conclusion, this is my site. I’m going to work and make it OUR site. While I may joke about being psychic, I’m not.

Ok, I’m lying. I’m still psychic; I just can’t use my powers today. So I need your help.

EDM Jobs and Festival Opportunities:

Festival Content Writer:

Do you like writing? Are you the type of person who has something to say about everything that is going on in the world today? Want to help shape opinions on the EDM scene? Here’s your chance by being a writer for the site. All it takes is being able to write about a topic assigned and how it related to dance music and the club life.

EDM Clothing Shoppers and Festival Outfit Finders

Are you the type that is always well-dressed and you can’t go out without looking amazing? You have got so much fashion sense that it’s time to turn it into fashion dollars. I need people to scour the internet’s dark corners. I’ve heard of this search page, there past the porn and more porn.

Believe it or not, but I’ve heard there are parts of the internet that don’t include porn.  I KNOW, weird!

There’s EDM clothing, clubwear, and festival outfits out past the porn. Look at sites like Yandy.com and other EDM apparel sites. Do you refuse to buy because you know how over-priced many of the items are? Here’s your chance, come work for me and we’ll show the world how it’s done.

DIY God/Goddess

Are you the type of person who wishes that Halloween was every day? Then you could wear all those costumes that you have more than once a year? The ideas that are in your head about costumes could fill countless pages of notebooks.

Want to get sponsored to make stuff? I’ve got a ton of costumes I would like to have made and not enough time to make them, but you could. Now imagine the costume you could make if you had a teammate who had skills in those areas that you don’t. Think of what cool projects you could build then. I’m looking for people with these skills:

  • Sewing
  • Fashion Design
  • Set Design
  • Sign Design
  • Modern Design
  • Medival Design
  • Leatherworking
  • Metalworking
  • Painting
  • Kandi Making

Photographers and Videographers

Are you responsible enough to remember to take pictures at events? I wish I had more of you around me when I went out. It’s so annoying to work hard figuring out the best costume idea. And then forgetting to take a picture of it.

Because then you have to devise the next best costume idea so that way you can take pictures.

I need people who take awesome pictures at the club to help us out. I need action shots of the fun and emotion and life that are at a festival, or in the club, or at the EDM concert. But if a picture is worth a thousand words, what’s that video worth? Videographers are just as important to this cause.

(Maybe a little more than photographers, but sshhh , there’s one listening over there.)

History is happens every event, and I need you there to document it.

Dancers and flow artists

How many of you who spin, twirl, glove, dance, stomp, pop, hoop or otherwise perform a flow art? Have you gotten tired of performing without any appreciation? Maybe that’s the wrong way to phrase it, but it’s all I could come up with right now. I need festival performers, go-go dancers and flow artists to dance some videos.

I know the frustration of performing for hours and seeing all kinds of cameras recording you. Only to get home and spend hours trying to search YouTube for videos of you to no avail. Have you ever felt this frustration yourself? I want to stop this and get some footage of flow artists performing in their natural environment.

Then I want to take this and make training videos on how to practice your flow art with a crowd surrounding you.

Social Media Masters

Do you know more about Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, and Facebook? Are you smarter than the average bear? I’d hope so, last I checked bears can’t read.

Groan, I know, but it makes me giggle, which is why I tell all these bad jokes.

I need your help to start spreading the word on the social networks. If you can share a status update to more than 2 networks at the same time, there’s work available for you. Do you know what the best part is? You don’t even have to leave your home.

Don’t know what your superpower/skill is yet?

I need you even more. I need those people who are still trying to figure out what they like. Can you talk to other people and listen to what they say? Are you the type that has no problem asking questions?

I want to get field reporters who attend music festivals or other local rave concerts. Once there, they interview festival attendees. Ask them 5 questions and then send them on their way.

Additionally, you would interview DJs and EDM producers or even the festival promoters. EDC might be one of the few events that I can think of where I actually know who the main promoter is. Other music festivals, I have no idea who is the festival promoter for it.

I want to get interviews with them and get their opinions and put them on the site. I want to put a face on the event in other words. But with as many festivals and raves as there are, I can’t do it all.

But you could help me.

Duh Jedi, All You Had to Do Was Ask, I Thought You Were Psychic

I know that there’s more help that I need. These are the ones that I came up with just in the time that it took for me to write this. I want to have you help me and then I can help you get to the best music festivals in the US for 2015 and beyond. There’s so much to still to complete in the world of EDM music festivals, raves, and club nights.

I can’t do it alone.

Help me, please?

Some people only think of themselves when asked to do something to help others. Have you ever been needing help with something and called a friend to try and get help.

(Dead bodies are so hard to move by yourself)

Yet, every time you call that friend, they seem to be busy. Everyone has at least one of those friends. And if they can’t think of that friend, chances are they are that friend.

There’s a reason I have spent the last 8 months studying and working hour after hour. I used to go out 5-6 nights a week. I went out once in the last 3 weeks. That’s how much I have been working on this site.

Why so much? The reason that I created this site is to meet a goal I had set. What is my goal?

My personal goal is to be able to take 50 of my closest friends to a festival in the next year.

Click to Tweet

There, it’s on the internet, so I have to do it.

I love going to festivals and the EDM scene. I love sharing that with someone who wouldn’t/couldn’t go. Even better is someone who has never been to a mega-festival. That look of joy as they forget the cares and worries of the world for a few brief minutes is priceless. The feeling of being at a festival and popping someone’s festival cherry, it’s awesome.

So help me do this. Help me have fun with you and others. And then we can all go meet under the electric sky.

Jedi’s list of 50 friends at 50 festivals.

This is the first time I’ve written this down, I’ll make it a separate post that I keep updated all the time.
